Jericho

The Rose of Jericho, also known as the Resurrection Flower, is a remarkable desert plant celebrated for its ability to appear to come back to life. During dry conditions, it curls inward and becomes brown and seemingly lifeless, entering a dormant state to protect itself. Once exposed to water, its branches gradually unfurl and may develop greener tones—making it a beautiful symbol of renewal, resilience, transformation, protection and new beginnings.

How to Resurrect Your Rose of Jericho:

  1. Place the plant base-side down in a shallow bowl or dish. Pebbles may be added beneath it for support.
  2. Add clean, room-temperature water until it just touches the base. Do not completely submerge the plant.
  3. Place it in an area with bright, indirect light.
  4. Watch as the plant begins to open—sometimes within a few hours, although fully unfurling may take a day or longer.
  5. Replace the water daily to keep it fresh and help prevent mold or unpleasant odors.
  6. After approximately 3–7 days, remove the plant from the water and allow it to dry completely.
  7. Let it remain dry and dormant for at least 1–2 weeks before awakening it again.

The opening time, shape and amount of green coloring will naturally vary from plant to plant. Each Rose of Jericho has its own unique character and transformation.

Traditionally used in spiritual practices, the Resurrection Flower may be placed in the home or sacred space as a symbol of cleansing, prosperity, protection, renewal and the strength to begin again.
